Answers to some of your most frequently asked questions:

Q:

What do your herbs taste like?

A:

Our herbs are all natural without fillers. Taste will vary depending on the herb. Some herbs are naturally more palatable than others. To be honest, our clients have reported that the herbs do not taste good, but they are extremely pleased with the results. Most people become accustomed to the taste; however, the taste of an herb should be secondary. Our primary goal is an effective herbal tincture that works, and works fast .

Q:

Will the herbs interact with any medicines I am currently taking?

A:

There are herbs that are not recommended while on certain medications. If there is a concern, please e-mail Doc with your ailments and the medications you are taking, or ask your doctor.

Q:

Can I give herbs to my children?

A:

Our herbs are full strength herbal tinctures and are not recommended for children under 12 years of age. If you are looking for herbs for children, we recommend contacting Dr. Richard Schulze.

Q:

Can I take herbs if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?

A:

We DO NOT recommend taking herbs while you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Instead, follow your doctor's advice.

Q:

Are there any side effects to taking herbs?

A:

There are side effects to any over-dosage or over-usage, and we recommend that you follow the suggested dosage.
There are generally two kinds of side effects from herbs: diarrhea and vomiting. Both are short-lived and generally mild. In addition, one would have to take several fluid ounces of an herbal tincture to overdose.

Q:

What if the herbs do not work?

A:

Since herbs may take anywhere from minutes to weeks to show noticeable results, they may not seem like they are working at first. We always recommend that our clients seek out professional medical opinions based on their complaints and the severity of their complaints.

Q:

What is the shelf life of your tinctures?

A:

The shelf life of our products is three to five years. We tincture all of our herbs with alcohol. Some concern has been voiced to us, especially with individuals averse to taking alcohol, about the alcohol content of our tinctures. Our clients have also expressed to us, some of whom have serious alcohol addictions, that there are no averse side effects nor any desire to consume alcohol after using our tinctures. Everyone is different and should research tinctures prior to usage.

Q:

Can you "overdose" on herbs? If this happens, what should I do?

A:

(See "side effects") This is a question that is asked a lot. I have friends that think nothing of consuming a case of beer or drinking a pint of whiskey but ask if an eyedropper of herbs is too much. As stated in the "side effects" question overdose CAN happen. Most often diarrhea or vomiting is the result of overdose, and it is usually mild and short-lived.
That said, any overdose is serious and should be addressed by a medical professional; however, I know of no severe side effects or fatalities due to herbal overdoses.

Q:

How long can I take the herbs?

A:

There are two answers to this question. First, you should take an herb as suggested. Second, you should take it until you achieve your goals. One of our clients was taking the Dandelion Tincture for his gout. Once his symptoms began to decline and the severity of the disease diminished he put himself on a "maintenance" dosage to control his problems.

Q:

Can herbs be "habit forming"? If so, is this dangerous?

A:

Herbs are not habit forming. Good health, on the other hand, is. Once our clients use our herbs they become repeat customers.

Q:

Should I tell my doctor what herbs I am taking?

A:

Always consult your doctor. Most doctors will tell you, "If it is working for you, fine." Nevertheless, always consult your doctor.

Q:

Why are the herbs I purchase from Twin Rivers Herb Co. better than the herbs I can buy from health food stores or other herb companies?

A:

First and foremost, we attempt to fit the herbs to the complaints of our clients. Secondly, we do not use fillers to improve the taste of our herbs. This means you get the full strength of the herbs. As stated above, we want our herbs to work. Additives can take away from that goal.
Also, many of our clients have expressed disappointment in their experience with other herb companies and the product they can buy at health food stores. We realize that the success of any business depends on repeat customers. This is the reason that we continue to make the best working product possible, even if it doesn't taste very good.

Q:

Why should I take herbs?

A:

Why shouldn't you take herbs? Even with today's sciences, cultures all over the world still make their own home remedies. Many of the old wive's tales and folk lore's still work and are still being used in this country and others around the world. For example, the natives in the Amazon rely on their hundreds of years of herbal experience to treat and heal the ill and injured.
